Our principal and staff
Our school team is committed to every student’s learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging. We work together to create a supportive and inclusive school where every child is set up for success. Mr Wylie, our School Principal, leads an energetic and diverse staff that inspire and encourage students to reach their full potential.
Welcome from our principal
Welcome to Thornton Public School.
At Thornton Public School, a large and dynamic primary school, our vibrant and dedicated staff are committed to providing the highest quality educational experience for every student entrusted to our care. Guided by our school motto, "Deeds not Words," we strive to inspire and nurture excellence, encouraging our students to demonstrate respect, responsibility, and resilience—our core Positive Behaviour for Learning values—as they grow into confident, resilient learners prepared for the future.
We acknowledge that our school stands on the traditional lands of the Wonnarua people, and we pay our respects to their Elders past, present, and emerging. We recognise and honour their continuing connection to this land, and we are committed to fostering understanding and respect for Aboriginal culture within our school community.
Thornton Public School is proud of its close connection with the families of the Royal Australian Air Force who attend our school from Williamtown RAAF Base. We value the contributions and unique experiences these families bring, and we strive to provide a supportive and inclusive environment for them as part of our wider school community.
Our teaching staff foster learning environments grounded in high-quality instruction, collaboration, and innovative programs, consistently aiming to empower each student to achieve their full potential. We celebrate and embrace the rich diversity of cultures, backgrounds, and experiences that each child brings, recognising that this diversity strengthens and enriches our inclusive school community. We also deeply value the essential partnership of parents and caregivers, whose active involvement is crucial in supporting their child’s educational journey.
As Principal of Thornton Public School, I am proud to lead a committed team devoted to the success and well-being of every student. Together with our school community of staff, students, and families, we look forward to continuing to work collaboratively to make our motto come alive through our actions and achievements.
