Kindergarten is an important year of schooling as children formally begin to develop their literacy and numeracy skills. Our whole school community will help your child adjust to school and help them to feel comfortable.

Little Lizzies Transition Sessions
Little Lizzies is a transition program for children who will be commencing Kindergarten at Thornton Public School in 2025. It is coordinated and run by experienced and qualified teachers and School Learning Support Officers. The play-based sessions will focus on school readiness, school environment and staff familiarisation. Your child must be enrolled at TPS to attend this program. Little Lizzies will run later in the school year - stay tuned for more information.
Kindergarten Book and Resource Pack
The cost of the Book and Resource Pack is $70.00. Items in the pack will be provided to your child on their first few days of school and as required throughout the year. These items will be used in their classroom. Your child will receive their hat and green bag prior to school starting.
The Kindergarten Resource Pack consists of the following:
- Transition to School Social Story
- Triangular shaped lead and coloured pencils
- Glue sticks and scissors
- Textas, crayons and whiteboard markers
- Student workbooks
- Library Bag/Notes Bag (Green Bag)
- School Hat
- Educational Apps and games
School Uniforms
Uniforms are available for purchase instore from Lowes Greenhills or Lowes Online Schoolwear.
What does my child need to bring to school?
Everyday your child will need to have at school:
- School Bag/ Back Pack
- Lunch box
- Water bottle
- Fruit break containers (small and easy to open and close)
- Notes & information folder/Green bag (provided as part of resource pack)
We recommend labelling all items with your child's name to avoid lost property.
